Let’s start digging our knowledge about the origin of flamenco guitar. Everyone seems to be familiar with the flamenco guitar’s origin which is Spanish. The first material is the Spanish cypress, rosewood and sycamore for the sides and the back of this flamenco guitar. The other material would be cedar or spruce for its top. Since a flamenco guitar is designed to accompany the flamenco dancers whom wearing nailed shoes, this particular flamenco guitar should has a loud voice so as to can be heard over the dancer. The voice that comes out of the flamenco guitar have to be louder than the nailed shoes’ voice. That is why making a flamenco guitar requires a skillful person and a diligent work, not only to produce the best voice but the artistic design and form as well.

A flamenco guitar player usually does the tapping on the body of his guitar with his fingers in a rhythmic order which is known as golpes. This is the reason why there is always golpeador or a tap plate on every flamenco guitar body; the function is to protect its body. The common material used for making golpeador is plastic. In fact, golpeador is the distinct signature of a flamenco guitar that differs it from the classical one.
